Two Fall Parties

We had a wonderful week in the last week of October which included not just ONE, but TWO fun parties!  What a lucky class!
Our Fall/Halloween party was a great success and lots of fun!  Thank you so much to all the parents who helped make this day so wonderful by sending costumes, food, activities, and/or volunteering time.  The class really loved it and seemed to have a great day!
Here are a few pictures of that special day:

Our Hibernation Party was also alot of fun.  We dressed in pajamas, learned about how and why bears and other animals hibernate, did activities about bears and hibernating, read books and watched a little video about hibernating bears.  Here are a few pictures of this very fun day!
Reading stories in our "cave".

Getting ready to watch a short video about hibernating bears.

Watching the video with our teddy bears and hibernation snacks.

We sang the "Bear Hunt" song then found our own bears that had been hidden in the room.  We then arranged them in size order and lined up for a picture.  Say "Hibernation!"

The afternoon class getting ready to start our fun hibernation day.

During Center time we pretended to be bears and would go out looking for food then go back to the cave to hibernate!  What great imaginations!

Ready for our hibernation video and snack!

The afternoon class after going on our own class bear hunt and arranging their Teddy Bears in size order.  What a Great Day!

Our room has been very busy since my last Blog and here is a look at some of the things we have done:
During our Healthy Eating weeks, we did a few fun food experiences such as making the ice cream with grandparents, making Stone Soup, and painting bread.  Here are some pictures.
We read the story Stone Soup, then we made Stone Soup with the class, using a large marble as the stone and having each student put in different ingredients and stirring it.  The soup was delicious and we all enjoyed it at snack time.

Painting bread was a very simple art that the students LOVED.  We colored milk with food coloring, let them paint a piece of bread (be sure to use new or sterilized paint brushes), toasted the bread, and ate it for snack.  They really enjoyed this art.

Our fruit swirl art turned out really well also and they enjoyed this messy art.

All together it was a very successful unit on How to Make a Healthy Plate!  :)
