Fun in the Fall!
October has been a very busy month!
In the first week of October, we had a mommy guest reader in the morning who read "The Ugly Duckling" and brought in her duck as a prop! The students LOVED it.
We have been busy decorating the classroom for fall. The students have enjoyed watching the leaves change colors and fall to the ground outside. We went on a walk and collected some of the leaves and made a mural rubbing with them.
Each day we sing our Fall song during Carpet Time to remind us of the season: (sung to Frere Jacques)
Fire prevention week was the 11th to the 13th. We painted two big firetrucks to play with in our classrooms. We also got to see a real firetruck on the 13th when Fireman Eric talked to the class about fire safety and showed us his truck and his very tall ladder!

Leaves are falling, leaves are falling
To the ground, To the ground
We will catch them
We will throw them
All around, all around
Fall is the perfect time of year to play outside because it's not too hot and not too cold!Fire prevention week was the 11th to the 13th. We painted two big firetrucks to play with in our classrooms. So Many Fun Experiences
This year so far has been filled with so many fun activities and tons of opportunities to learn new things!
We learned about our bodies and how to take care of them :
The whole class enjoyed having grandparents come to visit. We sang a little song for them, then made patchwork picture frames together. The students were so excited to have their grandparents visit. The whole week before they were asking if their grandparents were coming that day and would tell each other that their grandparents were coming to school soon. Then, the whole week after their visit that's all they could talk about!
We also learned about our feelings and each class created beautiful murals after looking at paintings that made them feel happy or sad and while listening to happy then sad music.
We learned about our 5 senses and sat down outside with our eyes closed to listen to what we could hear outside. We also made some amazing art with koolaid, fruit loops, sensory sticks, and shakers.
Our morning class also had a high school class come and perform a play for us. They did the book "Where the Wild Things Are" and put on masks and acted out the roaring and gnashing teeth. The class really enjoyed it. They clapped for them and as they were leaving some of the students said, "That was so cool!"
We are currently in the middle of learning about colors and will be learning about Fall, Apples, Pumpkins, Bears, Nursery Rhymes, and Thanksgiving up through November.
Of course every day we are learning how to be good friends, sharing, taking turns, and playing nicely together.
We learned about our bodies and how to take care of them :
Each class enjoyed adding the bones, organs, and muscles to a life size cut out body. |
We learned about the different parts of our body including our legs and feet and painted with our feet. |
We learned that germs make us sick, and if we are sick the doctor knows what to do to help us feel better. Everyone sure had fun pretending to be doctors. |
We learned that a good way to keep germs away is to stay clean by taking baths and washing our hands |
